Family – liliaceae

It is mainly use in – catarrah , cold, coryza, cough, , diarrhoea, influenza, injury, laryngitis, nasal polypus, throat affections.

Its main seats of action are conjunctiva, mucous membrane of nose, respiratory tract, intestines, nerves and veins.

Headache- it can be used in catarrhal dull headache with coryza, which aggravates in warm room, , better in open air and worse again on returning to a warm room.

Eyes- it can be used in burning eyes, or feeling of biting ,smarting as from smoke in eyes, watery and suffused eyes, capillaries are injected , congested and excessive lachrymation which is profuse but bland.

Nose – it can be used in profuse and watery but acrid discharges from nose, excoriates the part touched by the nasal discharges.  There may also be nasal polypus found in the patient.

Coryza – it can be used in spring coryza after exposure to damp wind, discharges burn and corrode the nose and upper lip. Catarrhal laryngitis with severe cough which compels the patient to grasp the larynx, seems as if the cough would tear the larynx.

Colic- it can be used in colic usually caused from cold, by getting feet wet , from overeating, haemorrhoidal.

Injury- it is best remedy in traumatic chronic neuritis of neuralgia after amputation with burning and stinging pains.

It can be best use in for the sore and raw spots on feet specially heel, “from friction particularly when the feet are rubbed sore

Allium cepa is a left sided medicine. Symptoms go from left to right.

It is used in commom cold and cough or headache, which is aggravated in a warm room , better in open air and worse again on returning to a warm room .

Profuse watery and acrid nasal discharge with profuse bland lachrymation.

Desire for raw onion is an indication for the remedy.

Aggravation in warm room and in the evening, relievedin cold room and open air.

Violent laryngitis, cough seems, to tear and split the larynx.

Neuralgic pain like a long thread following amputation or nerve injuries is relieved by this remedy.

Thread like pain , in various parts, characteristics of allium cepa.
